Eating disorder & Obesity therapies
Many people seem to be able to eat whatever they want without any problem, others really struggle with their relationship with food. Eating disorders usually take over your life, affecting how you think, feel and behave. Short-term and long-term health affects not always obvious initially, can be far reaching and cause serious complications. Each person’s eating disorder is often a very individual mix, however all eating disorders exhibit one common factor – self worth based on body shape, size and control of food intake. Rules about what you can and cannot eat, secret eating, compensatory behaviours such as excessive exercise, vomiting, laxative abuse as an attempt to reduce food absorption lead to feelings of confusion, guilt and shame.
Diagnosed with an eating disorder in the 1990s, I am highly aware of the long term effects and difficulties in recovery. In 2016 I decided to undertake specialist training on the Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders & Obesity programme, at the National Centre for Eating Disorders. I attained the Master Practitioner Award in Eating Disorders and Obesity, and I am delighted to be able to offer specialised therapy in the following areas;
Weight loss counselling
Eating disorder assessment (up to 80 minutes) £55
Subsequent sessions (1 hour) £40
